What is End Point Assessment?

End Point Assessment (EPA) is the main method of assessment for the new Apprenticeship Standards. It allows much more of a focus on the learning experience for the Apprentice before they go on to be assessed.

Key features of the new Apprenticeships are:

On Programme Stage

On-programme training and learning will develop the Apprentice’s knowledge, skills and behaviours which are set out in the Apprenticeship Standard. The programme will have milestones to mark progression and may be assessed according to the Apprenticeship Standard.

Gateway

The gateway refers to the point towards the end of the Apprenticeship programme where the employer and training provider ‘sign off’ the Apprentice as being ready for End Point Assessment and having achieved the level of knowledge, skills, and behaviours for their Apprenticeship.

End Point Assessment

This is the final stage in completing the Apprenticeship Programme. The activities you are required to undertake for the assessment will vary dependent on the Standard. For example, Business Administrator Level 3 requires the Apprentice to complete a Knowledge Test, Portfolio Based Interview, and a Project/Improvement Presentation.

The apprentice is given a grade once the End Point Assessment is completed and if successful, they will be formally certificated.

The assessment is taken independently of the training provider and the End Point Assessor will not have had any part in the Apprentice’s training.

We are an approved End-Point Assessment Organisation for:

Starting the process

The employer and training provider will discuss with the Apprentice the progress made in the apprenticeship programme and jointly agree that he/she is ready to move forward to End Point Assessment.

Reserving an Assessment

To arrange the assessment please complete the Assessment Request Form. This will reserve the assessment to ensure you complete the programme. The reservation can be made at the start of the apprenticeship programme to allow plenty of time for the apprentice to prepare and plan work. Changes can be made to the reserved assessment.

Pre-Assessment Support

We provide a range of materials to help you prepare for End Point Assessment once you have reserved your assessment. Planning the Assessment

As you are nearing the end of your training programme, our assessment team will contact you to agree dates for your end point assessment. At this point, Conquest will ensure you have completed the required elements to move to the final stage.

How Much Will End Point Assessment Cost?

Costs will vary from standard to standard. Conquest is offering a Digital End Point Assessment solution and will work with employers to select the most appropriate platform for the learner to access. For example, we can currently offer Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Zoom.
